How a panel family is made
Take panna 123. Each digit can stay or be swapped for its cut: 1 or 6, 2 or 7, 3 or 8. That gives 8 combinations, which written in panna order are 123, 128, 137, 178, 236, 268, 367 and 678. Every panna in the list leads back to the same family.
Pannas with repeated digits or with a digit and its cut (for example 116, 550 or 111) make smaller families, because some combinations repeat. That is why families have 4, 6 or 8 members.
A family chart groups pannas so a panel chart can be read quickly; it does not make any panna more likely to come. See also the jodi family chart, the 220 patti chart and the total jodi chart.
